Valves such as water meters, stopcocks, full-way valves, pillar taps, bibcocks, ball valves and non-return valves are all used when installing a cold water supply system. The plumber needs to understand where these valves need to be installed and how the installation should take place according to the National Standard. Most of these valves assist with the switching off of a water supply, and thus are critical when it comes to the maintenance of a cold water supply system.
